i put off voting trying to give them a chance. it's strange, originally i felt like i should like them, i might've been kinda part of the target audience.

but i really dislike them. jesus won't let me say hate. i don't think the tunes are very notable at all on their own & they've wandered into really bland electronic territory of late.

i don't hate them 'cause they're pretentious, whatever that means. actually, i'd like to start a thread on pretention sometime. what's so wrong about pretending to be something, playing around, make-believe? that's a big part of what art is s'posed to be all about.

while i'm rambling, it sucks that female artists seem to get called pretentious more often. someone like joanna newsome (who i also can't really get into) gets called out more often on affecting a particular voice than a beefheart or tom waits. guys get more leeway when it comes to using their imaginations, i guess.

I've seen that Japanese video with the girl, her arsehole and the eels. The Cocorosie youtube link was much harder to watch than that.
