The show is for people who are there at the moment, and not "history" or whatever.

Wouldn`t you even consider to release a shellac live dvd in a near future?
Maybe only the fans can decide wether It`s history or not.
If there`s no official dvd available, people will Search the Internet for a bootleg video.
We both loose:we get a bad video footage of the gig and you don`t make any money with It.

From what I read in interviews, Shellac isn't a "professional" band. That's why they remain free to do whatever they want, because they don't rely on the band to earn their livings.

You are right though. We should try to convince them to release a dvd, even if they enjoy the éphémère aspect of a gig.

I bet he's already recorded a show and is trying to get the song names he
doesn't know yet. Maybe even trying to get some kind of consent.

I'm slow. I just figgered it out...

Actually, you're slower than u think. If I had recorded anything, I wouldn't be asking others for torrents or complete setlists from the shows now would I?
And bootleggers aren't real keen on getting the names of the new songs correct - they usually just make something up that sounds right. I know this as I try and download torrents from every good show I attend and the names for the new songs, (and a sometimes even the old songs), are almost always wrong.

I'm going to move this discussion to another thread though as something seems to have reared it's ugly head here and I'm curious what the EA masses who have yet to weigh in on the subject have to say about live recordings.

It's very frustrating as a Shellac addict not to be able to hear more recordings of their shows, I do wish it were different and that they were easily accessible (yes of course with a crisp DVD and stuff to boot) - but they sets the rules and you have to honour that.
I can't help but think sometimes that it is a waste of such great material, and I'm all for archiving (having a shit memory being the main reason) - but then I can really see their point of view too.
