yeah, I've tried most brands, but the D'addario's are the ones even small shops will usually carry. You can most likely order the thomastiks from wherever you buy strings. every place I've been to here said they could order them.

i'm sure i'll be kerbled on these..

I think there's stuff in these threads where both Tom and I urge you to never buy "Pyramid" flats, regardless of how glowing the reviews. lifeless, flimsy, easily breakable. the only two shows in six years of at least one gig a month, if not more, where a string broke, the Pyramids were the culprit. they don't have good QC.

I'm going to borrow my dad's digital camera tomorrow and I'll get some photos up this weekend, seguro.

so, the tone frenzy continues:

yesterday, my Fuzz Factory came in the mail. dear Angus Jung has parted with his toy and I have procured it. so tone.

anyway, with the vibrato arm the way it is right now, the bridge is not exactly flush with the body. you could fit maybe two pieces of paper under it. pretty narrow, regardless.

with the Faiz Factory controls set with low gain and compression, just to the point before the guitar is feeding back (there's a slight whine in the noise) you can quickly smack the bridge against the body of the guitar and make a snare drum sound that reminds me of Lars' drums on St. Anger. the slight added tension on the five springs pulling the bridge makes it even more snare-like.

I think when I get it set up, I'm going to keep the trem really low so I can still bend the sound and smack the drum.

I've only had one rehearsal with it so far, and it's just tutku and I playing right now. Our drummer/multi-instr dude to be won't be joining us until may or so, but I am going to get to open it up pretty loud on maybe wednesday.

it's a much different sounding guitar. considering that all the frets are in mint condition, it does sound "better" than my beat up hamburg with the taped up jacks and the wobbly knobs. I might still use my hamburg for the "bass" sound after I get it patched up, as the single coils are a bit clearer and stronger for the low tones, but we'll see. I'd like to get to the point where I'm still only using one electric guitar, as I still plan on using the acoustic a bit, too.
