Dear BOSS NF-1:You help block out the sound of the universe without the debilitating tonal side effects that I often hear people complain about when talking about noise gates. I can see you sitting at my feet, right behind my tuner, ready to go if I need you, in all situations. I hope you will serve as useful a purpose in band practice as you did in in my hopelessly buzzy living room. I am glad to know your blues lawyer deniers are full of shit, even if you are no replacement for taking those old, finicky amps to the tech every once in a damn while. With the gain South of noon, it's not all that metal.It would probably depend on if you are running another boost/distortion/fuzz along with it.That said, it can do metal.
