Yeah, they do the silly song title thing. More Mogwai and Russian Circles than Spinal Tap, though.

Oh Sees and King Gizzard do it brilliantly, and I like whenever John Dwyer is asked "Why two drummers?" he replies "Why the fuck not two drummers!"

It's way more trouble on all fronts, costs more and all you get is regular drumming, but messier sounding?

I was in a band with two drummers. We had two good candidates and thought why the fuck not? They did other stuff too, playing synths and hand percussion.

We never really utilized it properly, though. My original vision was to add subtle polyrhythms and not so subtle complex drum parts, but they did all right.

So based on that: not crap.

I could see this being very useful in the sense of only ever playing with one. No more scheduling issues with their four other bands, no more worrying about whether they’ll show up to practice. There’s always the other one.
