I find the Darn Tough stuff to be too small/tight for my feet, or they just fit in weird ways. I don't have particularly wide feet or anything, but do wear a US men's size 12.

I don’t know what we’re defining as “forever” but I started buying Bombas a couple years ago and have gotten 18-24 months out of them where I would get a month or two with your basic Hanes sock. They’re not USA made though.

What are you guys doing to socks? I buy a couple of packages of Hanes crew socks every 4 years. Admittedly during shorts weather I use a thinner breathable low cut sock instead, which don't last as long.

I weirdly had the exact same memory of Tim recommending Darn Tough and just received my first two pairs last week. I got the non-hiking "lifestyle" sock. They were indeed a little small at first but now they're very comfy. It was $50 for both. It's certainly the most I've ever spent on socks. I'll definitely be using the lifetime warranty.

I have an original LPB-1 that I rehoused maybe 10 years ago. Didn't use it much since. I busted it out a few weeks ago and thought I must have done something wrong; the effect was very subtle and I remembered it being a huge volume/overdrive whomp when engaged. I bypassed it and the little circuit still blasts. I'll replace the 50 year old slider. But when I was initially trying these out on a Champ it sounded like they were both producing the exact same effect, which was to say very little effect. So much so that I couldn't tell that one was working and one was not. It totally makes sense that the effectiveness of the boost all depends on your amp and it's available headroom, but it's wild that the difference is so pronounced in practice. I love learning stuff like this. How things interact radically differently depending on so many aspects of your setup and signal chain. Anyway, I wanted to give an update. I'm on board with the Linear Power Booster again after a long time away.

Usually a squirt of Deoxit in the side of those slider switches fixes them.

I gave it many squirts and a good workout, but it's still not showing continuity on one side in the 'boost' position. I could take it apart and really get at the contacts, but I ordered a replacement anyway. Generally, you're right though. That usually does the trick.

Recently had a new power transformer put into my 63' Epiphone Pathfinder. It's mostly all good, other than the tone is slightly more throaty than it used to be. The only bad thing is, now there is a pretty annoying buzz in the reverb circuit. It sounds like single coil pickup buzz but it goes away when you turn off the reverb. Before it took a shit, the reverb was completely quiet. Didn't have any weird noise at all. Not a big deal for playing, but sucks for recording completely, which is what I really want to have this amp around for. Ideas?

They probably put the power transformer ground in a weird place. The reverb recovery stage in an amp is especially sensitive and you'll get 60 Hz hum if you dont separate your power grounds from your preamp grounds.
