While I normally don't watch much South Park, I stumbled upon an episode mocking Family Guy that excited me by saying what I've been bitching about the show for years.
The jokes have no relation to the plot.
No fucking relation.
What the hell? Seriously- what the fuck? Drives me crazy. Family Guy has occasional funny moments, but they aren't worth sitting through the entire show. It's borderline unwatchable.

I vote not crap based on jokes I found funny.

I don't like it as a programme and prefer "King of the Hill", which I think has more substance. I prefer the more langourous style of "King of the Hill" than the gag-a-second approach of "Family Guy".

I have a problem with Family Guy. My problem with it is that it's not funny. Or clever. Or insightful. Or anything. If the comparisons are going to be other cartoons (which seems fair enough), I can appreciate King Of The Hill for its restraint and its gentle observations about family life, The Simpsons for its speedy wit and great characters, Beavis And Butthead for its outright puerility, Futurama for its atmosphere and satire, and South Park for its vicious and incisive piss-taking. Family Guy just seems like a witless ricochet from other, bolder, better things that preceded it.

In some ways I see it as the cartoon version of the band Bush. I just don't believe it - which is a weird thing to find yourself saying about a cartoon, but there you go.
