I saw that happen once while driving downtown. I was maybe 2 or 3 blocks away, heading south on Wacker Drive.
A huge shower of sparks came down from the antenna after the lightning bolt hit. It was really spectacular.

I had to pull off the road in a bad storm one night a few years ago. I pulled into a shopping center to wait it out, it was very intense. 70-80mph straight line winds and blinding rain and hail. My truck was shaking like crazy. Behind me was some store that had a huge lighted sign. Lightning knocked the fuck out of it and it just rained huge sparks all over my truck. Scariest fucking thing I've ever been through. So loud when that shit is going on.
Was there any funnel clouds or hail falling in the storms the other day?
