i think you're underestimating the effect of random insults

you can SKIP a huge-ass block of typing

the random insults, first, they're random, so you don't know they're coming. second, they're compact, so you cannot avoid them.

extended riffing on whatever is easy to tune out. blunt trauma via random insult coarsens the discussion and reduces this forum to something that less than appealing.

i don't _really_ care that much. but i think it's fine to eliminate posting by people who can't be reasonable. and i think racial epithets and senseless taunting are unreasonable.

Although the use of certain words is meant at offend on the basis of the irrational, i.e. race - calling a Mexican a lazy spic etc. In general I find the idea that we should regulate society on the basis of "Most Easy Offended Person Makes the Rules" totally ridiculous.

There really isn't any point in complaining about the folks on here that you don't like.
Look at the toomanyhyperboles and Marsupialized feud.
That only really started because tmh complained.
See where complaining gets you?

i'm actually anxious to hear how long posts cause culture to corrode. and i know it can't be solely the length that's so malignant, because i've seen some rather long posts come from some of the most intelligent posters here, folks who annhilate guys like you and me. to argue that long posts from those fellas is destructive to culture would be crazy! so i know it's the content moreso than the length.

actually, i don't know. i'm waiting for your explanation as to how i personally destroy culture more than anyone else does. so as far as using me as your example, use away!
