Patton was fantastic on the Angel Dust tour - I'd never seen a performer quite as mental before... I probably haven't since either.

Indeed, that was the "piss in the shoe and drink it in front of 50 000 Guns 'n' Roses fans" tour.

I'm moving to Wellington in 2007 to go back to Uni. I've never lived there, but I'm looking forward to it.

Wellington is a great little city. Well it was when I left about 9 years ago... I hope it hasn’t changed too much.

Vic is a nice place to study too – they have an excellent collection of art if you’re into that kind of thing – great Hotere & Mccahon peices (Gate III!) just dotted around the campus buildings.

I’m not sure what the music scene is like these days but it was pretty good when I left.

Cool, sounds good. The art scene is definitely a plus, I'm studying Architecture.

You would have been around for the early Shihad tours... memoooorrrieees...

I remember seeing Shihad when they were very much still a thrash/speed metal band at a dive venue called Rocky's. They were good live even then. Jon Toogood worked at the local record store & there was a rumour he was fired for stealing from the till to fund the bands equipment needs... ahhhhhh back in the days...

I might have to go home and dig out some HLAH albums...

Funny you should say that. I picked up a copy of Flick Yourself Off Yer Yourself last time I was at home... brilliant. Faster Hooves is a classic.

I remember seeing Shihad around the same time, black jeans, white Basketball boots, playing Slayer covers. A year later I saw them at Warners in Cathedral Sq on the Churn tour... holy fuck was an amazing show. 30 mins, no talking, no lights, just a strobe and some of the most violent music I'd ever heard.

A life changing night.

The Fall (or I should say Mark E. Smith and a backing band) at the Echo Lounge in 03. They came on two hours late and Smith appeared to be drunk which makes hearing the songs with that Manchester accent even harder. No energy, nothing like the old records.

as for someone else who commented

Waylon Jennings

Bullshit!

Jesus, what a letdown.

This saddens me, i have seen her 3 times and while not blown away at all of 'em. It certainly wasn't a letdown.

She did blow me away when she played with the Sadies as her backing band.

That's when I saw her too. She was getting over a cold and had NO onstage presence. From listening to and loving her recorded music I was expecting this VOICE, you know? She kept asking the sound guy for more reverb when it already sounded like she was in the back of an airplane hangar. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and see her again if she comes back around.

Is there a thread for the Sadies in C/NC?
CRAP
God they were terrible...boring...awful. Apologies to any Sadies fans.

Pixies--boooo. Saw them 16 years ago and they were lifeless. Glad to hear they finally got it figured for the reunion tour for those of you that attended.

Drop Dead.

Texas is the Reason.

Fugazi.

My greatest heartbreak was Stiff Little Fingers. They all wore vests and played only new songs. "Nobody's Heroes", indeed.

And then did you decide you hate the rave bar?

Anyways, I saw Q and not U three times and the first two were awesome and the last one sucked. Serious decline.

I can't say I've been very dissapointed by many of the bands I've seen because I am so picky and do not go to very many shows. Maybe it's only when I see bands more than once and they suck the second time or something. Q and not U did that to me.

Fugazi was so dissapointing to me as i love a few of their records and between the footage i'd seen and the things people had told me i was expecting to have a great time. But sadly it just didn't do anything for me at all and i was a bit confused and dissapointed. Maybe it would've been better if the keyboard player was with them.

I will agree with the Melt Banana comments too. I think they can really shine on record, and to be honest the first 10 or 15 minutes was really rockin'. But after that i was just wishing they would finish. Boy did they play for too long. I even went to see them again a couple of years later thinking maybe i/they had an off night, but exactly the same thing happened.

Sigur Ros. I had only heard one song (Svefn G Englar) which i really loved, but they bored me senseless. They were 3rd on the bill and just refused to leave the stage. Eventually the plug was pulled on them and Godspeed You Black Emperor had to cut some time off their set, but they seemed mighty pissed and they brought it hard.

Sonic Youth. Sonic Shit.
