Hey man, nobody's infringing on your free speech here.

I never said that you can't say whatever the hell you want, I just pointed out that as I see it, that CIA mind control angle is definitely not the most likely scenario.

I don't really know enough about the kid to say what the cause was, but given what I saw in that video and what I read in those plays of his, paranoia and mania almost certainly played a central role.

But hey I always appreciate alternate viewpoints in discussion. I've noticed by your other posts that you seem to be very well-informed and intelligent. I guess I just wanted to ascertain whether you seriously consider mind-control by the US government to be a factor in this case, or if you're just casting that out there to see what you can reel in.

And Blackmarket and his ilk can blow gaskets over my free speech until their arteries explode. They wish they could think as well as me, they wish they could write as well as me. Could you possibly be any more sanctimonious, Bob? I mean, please. We all understand perfectly well what free speech is, and I doubt anyone has made even a tiny effort to remove you from the forum. You simply cannot stand the fact that people haven't bestowed the savior status on you that your so clearly desire (although not as much as you desire martyr status). And I won't even get into the fact that, on this private forum, you don't have any expectation of free speech whatsoever.

And if I wrote as poorly as you, I would be ashamed of myself. I won't get into grammar and usage problems, but this: "Blow gaskets . . . until their arteries explode"? Pick a metaphor, Bob.

I make inferences based on what I saw in that kid's eyes.

Right. And then you claim that you're sympathetic to the victims. No. Clearly, you're not. You see them as grist for your mill, if you see them at all.

This thread is one more example of why I help fill a vital role here: conscience for the forum.

I'm quite sure that you're regarded as a source of amusement, not a conscience or source of information.

This forum is flooded with people who claim to love free speech, but only if they are in control of what it covers. They can't grasp that free speech is an absolute, and that anything that travels from my brain through my keyboard to this forum qualifies as free speech until the mods shut me down.

And other people have exercised their free speech in pointing out that you're an idiot. It cuts both ways.

And Blackmarket and his ilk can blow gaskets over my free speech until their arteries explode. They wish they could think as well as me, they wish they could write as well as me.

That is indeed some powerful writing, there. As per your "thought"... You free-associate well. You reason at a Dan Brown level. You gather references dilligently, but show little if any ability to analyze them.

Jealous, petty thought police.

Nobody has forced you to be quiet, have they? Pointing out the stupidity and insensitivity of what you're writing is not the same as shutting you down. Much like any other fundamentalist, you show a desperate need to be a martyr - to view yourself as the last bastion of truth who's constantly in peril because of your beliefs. In reality I suspect you're a little fat man with glasses and a twitchy eye who can't make friends and loves to read about magical dragons.

I didn't even vote for mind control, BTW- I voted for 'the prescription drugs'. But I do like that my raising the possibility of mind control has sent Blackmarket into a frenzy and made him go bring over all those conspiracy theory goodies from liberty forum.

And again: how can you claim to be sympathetic? How can you pretend to show any regard for these people?

I realize there's little point to this post, because Bob's world view is solipsistic and impenetrable, but what the hell - I'm bored at work, so there you go.

Free Speech Does not give an individual freedom from criticism. Never has, never will.

Come on Bobby-boy, you should know this shit!

According to Newsweek, he had scrawled these lyrics on his dorm wall
Give me a word
Give me a sign
Show me where to look ...
Tell me what will I find
Oh, heaven, let your light shine down.
Looks like we can blame this on the grunge-lite, pseudo Christian rock band Collective Soul.
I'll admit it's no "Helter Skelter", but it's a lot more believable than a government conspiracy involving mind control and black helicopters.

Collective Soul were formed by the government in hopes of influencing people like the VA Tech shooter. It's so fucking obvious, you'd have to be an idiot to not see it. One of the roadie's fathers was a janitor in the main building where the MK Ultra project managers had offices. You think that's a fucking coincidence? Keep on believing what all the other sheep believe... just don't come crying to me when someone kicks you in the balls at the bus stop while listening to Creed on his ipod.

These Guys?

I never really saw them that way. But now that you mention it, there is something wierd about that one guy....

I fail to see why Bob's suggestion is insensitive to anyone (especially given the one point many seem to be over looking - that is, he doesn't believe it was a mind control experiment.)

His suggestion is certainly no more insensitive than the general media presentation of the event and its aftermath.

You seem to be suggesting that people are not allowed to discuss any tragic event for fear of being insensitive to those affected by it.
