My TEAC 15 console has stopped powering on suddenly. I've kept it powered on continuously, except for about a day where I shut it off to swap a noisy input module with one that'll be used less often. But I've been unable to get the board to power back up. The needles on the meters will jump for a split second when I turn the PSU back on, but the lamps/LEDs don't turn on anywhere, and it doesn't pass signal. I've checked connections and all, everything seems normal, but no luck.

My guess is that it's a fuse or something in the PSU, Occam's Razor. But I'm incompetent in DIY electronics (so a naturally good fit for console ownership).
This does seem like a PSU issue, right?
I have a tech I can bring the PSU to just on principle, but I'd love to hear other guesses/input in the meantime.

I've lived in several places since my Denver days (which was, geez, almost 20 years ago) but spent most of it in Chicago, and then last few years Milwaukee.

I liked knowing you and a handful of others were expanding the recording possibilities in Denver, because I did not like the options when I lived there.

What tape recorders would you recommend for a small project studio? Both for tracking and stereo mixing. I don't care about format or price but space is premium. (4 tracks are sufficient.)

If you have a multi meter, disconnect the cable from the PWRSPLY and point check all the power pins. Maybe you have a manual, but powersupplies of that era often have the pin voltage marked on the supply and sometimes at the board side as well. if the PS is shooting out the right voltage, its time to open the console, if it isn't, it's time to open the power supply (if you are comfortable doing that) and hope that its just some internal fuses.

I'll add that with a board of that vintage, A full recap of the powersupply is never a bad idea.

I feel CP shouldn't have been abused here as the friendly defender of someone I incorrectly identified as a robot, but such is the internet.

Do you seriously not remember Janeway from the old forum?
