If there is worse music on earth, I have not heard it. Or Beck hasn't released a new album.

Like they programmed a computer to make music with everything I hate about the superficial culture of self-absorbed rich kids as a template. This is the sound of money trying to look cute for money.

Please, music like this, please die in a fire.

CocoRosie women, I can tell we have nothing in common, probably not even ancestral DNA. Still, I wish you no ill. I just want music like this to stop.

i've never really heard this group. they don't seem like my cup of tea. but i'm interested, naysayers, what are their influences exactly? i want specifics. are we just talking bjork, tv on the radio, and hip-hop? or is there something i'm missing?

Thus far I've abstained from commenting as I've (luckily it turns out) never heard a note of CocoRosie and my first exposure was just a few moments ago via a Domino* sampler that came free with this month’s Wire.

Track #1 on this casket of horrors is entitled Rainbowarriors (all one word) and a predictably ghastly experience – hideously contrived, grotesquely affected vocals and breaking its own ankles in trying to appear ‘exotic’. I would not be at all surprised if CocoRosie are keen to list “Muslim hip-hop” as an influence.

A band like this has a ready-made audience and it brings to mind all the braying posh twits I had to suffer at university swanning around in pre-Raphaelite clothing pretending to be lesbians. Can I add to the chorus of Fuck. This. Band?

(*On further listening I would say that Deerhoof aside, Domino are lost, grasping for non-existent trends and firmly in the shithouse.)

Jekyl and Hyde? The Beauty and the Beast? Johnson and Johnson?

I say good things about them because they are fantastic beyond comprehension. Literally everything they do musically is a wondrous joy to experience. Their records go 5 steps past 'oh this is a good record' it hits 'my god, this is life changing stuff' over and over, song after song.
I am not shocked one bit they stir up such strong emotions, it is so groundbreaking, forward looking and amazing that it's bound to ruffle some feathers. Is it jealousy? The fact very, very few 'artists' or musicians will ever even come close to creating works of such power and beauty? Is it the fact they create these works seemingly so effortlessly? I suppose other artists' and musicians can't be faulted for feeling that way, I mean to have your entire life's work rendered utterly pointless with one listen like that...it's gotta be heartbreaking.
The soul in these songs.....the fire coming out of these ladies....it's like nothing I've heard before, these ladies of cocorosie are making music for the ages.
Sure, if I went in with my mind made up....at a casual listen it may seem trite but I assure you all if you really give this music a chance, really listen to what's going on with an open mind you will be shocked and glad you did.
So, in short...fuck y'all haters

I'd like to see them wrestling each other. Both girls lunged simultaneously at each other and locked up in a bear hug struggling to throw the other to the ground and then massaging each other.

'supial dude, whatever. You have found something you like. Baffling to some of us, but so what. You like them, okay, good job.

But you'll get nowhere suggesting that those of us who detest this shit are somehow missing something. We hear it, same as you. We just hate it.

I understand what you're up against, and I admire your ability to shun all common sense and bias. Keep the fire burning, bro.

I have to admire the man who stands behind the Joe Perry Project. At least Marsup. has the backing of the Tilly and the Wall/Urban Outfitters crowd. That must be a lonely cold cold world you live in...

I have to admit - Marsup. is right though. I havent really given these 2 girls a listen and Ive already written them off in my mind. I guess Ill have to see what all the "hype" is about.
