definitely molex. Molex has different gauges and key (squared) pins he may have bought something different
You may be able to piggyback the inputs of the scarlett through ADAT inputs assuming you are using a focusrite that has ADAT out. If no, you will most likely not be able to use both IO at the same time in your DAW, as most DAW will only recognize one at a time. Most I have used anyway. If you can take the outputs of your Focusrite into the ADAT in of the Apolo, you can probably expand the total inputs, but as far as processing, I think you will only be able to process the UA inputs with UA plugs. I have avoided the UA ecosystem so I'm not sure. I have a bunch of plugins that do pretty much everything UA offers and sound, to my ears, pretty much just as good. Not a fan of locking into a hardware based plugin ecosystem. I have expanded they input count of my MOTU 16a by using the ADAT ins and a cheapo Behringer 8ch pre with ADAT out though and it worked fine in Reaper.RyanZ wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 12:47 pm I am thinking of buying a UAD Apollo Twin interface.
I am wondering if I will be able to piggyback my Focusrite Scarlett to it to have more inputs. I see some conflicting info in my searches.
Am I correct to assume the UAD plugins would only work on the Apollo inputs?
Has anyone here worked in this scenario?
Thanks. Yes, I do have ADAT out on the Scarlett. I know that I am fine living outside of the UAD ecosystem, but a few friends seem to love it and claim that the plugins are a huge step up compared to Waves, Soundtoys, etc. They have gotten in my head a bit. I constantly have to remind myself that I could survive solely on the native Reaper plugins.Kniferide wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 1:03 pmYou may be able to piggyback the inputs of the scarlett through ADAT inputs assuming you are using a focusrite that has ADAT out. No! Not at all! I love the ones I own. I should have added in "friendlier priced."TylerDeadPine wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 2:35 pmSoundtoys are bad?RyanZ wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 1:23 pmThanks. Its one solid block instead of a divided set of 6 connectors. Anyway this is what I found that seems like it should do the trick:

haha, okay great because I wasn't giving them up no matter what the UAD master race saysRyanZ wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 2:57 pmNo! Not at all! I love the ones I own. They do sound good, but to me not good enough to pay for hardware that is twice the price of the next equivalent IO, especially when I already have purchased many plugins that would be made redundant by UA. The amount that they may sound better to me only is apparent while a/b testing in solo. Those tiny differences get petty much lost once in a mix. UA makes solid stuff. I have nothing against them or their products aside from having a pretty hard dislike of hardware locked software.RyanZ wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 1:23 pm
