I have had a sonic blue Squier Jazzmaster for 10 or so years and the colour is fading a fair bit - it almost looks surf green now. If I put a mint green guard on, in place of its current white pearloid one, will it look bluer?
Theoretically, yes. In reality, probably not a lot. Take a look at these images midway down this link with a white vs mint pickguard on Sonic Blue. Note how it doesn't seem to shift it any bluer with the mint. Granted, this one hasn't yellowed yet.

Thanks, tommy. Exactly the kind of comparison I had searched for but failed to find.

Weirdly, the "with flash" pics seem to suggest almost the opposite of the "without", and I'm guessing there's an element of "what colour is this dress?" variance depending on screens, subjectivity.

Bit of a noob question. My current demo/recording setup is/was all hardware (guitars, modular, drum machines going into a Tascam Model 12), but I recently bought Reaktor and want to integrate it into this setup. However taking the headphone out from my Macbook and plugging it into the Tascam makes the drums from Reaktor sound a bit weak. Should I be using a 1/8"-to-RCA y-splitter? Or perhaps a DAC? Maybe a preamp? What are some good ways to get decent audio from computer onto a multitrack?

Is there a reason you're not using the USB connection to route the output from Reaktor to 7/8 or 9/10?

Because I'm that much of a dumb noob, honestly. I'll try this out. Thanks!

Found the original pickguard, which had yellowed a bit (as you can see round the control holes or the bridge area)

Comparison suggests that yes, a faded/parchment guard makes it look slightly bluer.

Not really sure where this belongs, so I'm just gonna drop it here:

I have a Hiwatt DR103 head (original era, but with a switched out resistor on the Middle pot to make it a little less skronky), and a Marshall 4X12 cabinet. I haven't needed that much power in 15 years, and figure I might be able to find a good 100W 2X12 combo amp that would work as well for cheaper, and would take up less space.

Any ideas?

I dont understand a few things here. 1) If you dont need that much power, why is a 100W combo amp gonna be an improvement. Its still 100 watts, though it'll sound a bit quieter due to less speakers. I dont personally get the need for 100W guitar amps....30 is fantastic. 2) a 2x12 combo is only going to save you a little vertical space, but would be just as wide.

I guess I should have said 'an amp that's loud enough to play live with, but is smaller than a head and 4X12 cabinet'. Just looking to downsize a little while maintaining rock-ability.

Edit to add: and was hoping that I could sell the head and cabinet for a lot more than I'd pay for a replacement combo.

Nice. Looks like it helped.
