today's overrated fake post-punk, tomorrow's cutout bin fodder. i'll stick to my gang of four records, thanks.

CRAP. I bought Echoes because I heard bits of "House of Jealous Lovers" here and there whilst scanning the radio, and because it was only $7.99. I gave the CD away after a week (true). Basically, that one song is like semi-good and promising, but the rest of the record is total CRAP. It's all like half-way decent sounds/ideas and no good songs. They're waay overrated based on potential--people must be desperate for good guitar tone on the radio to put so much hope in this record. Where are the songs? It's CRAP but forgivable CRAP. They just don't live up to the hype.

I am not a big fan of these guys by any means. I too bought Echoes due to the fact that it was only $7 or $8 and I kind of liked that song as well. i saw these guys back in 2000 when they were still touring behind Mirror and were signed to Gravity. They were very good live. I will NOT CRAP this group with a WF of 6 because they were once a good band. Maybe them moving from the west coast to NYC has something to do with their downfall. Or it could be the DFA association.

I've heard--before they became overrated-- that they were one of the worst live bands money could buy. Now, I guess they're decent live.

Where do you guys hear these 'scene' bands that you know they are crap?

Genuine question; I read the names in the papers but I have no idea what any the 'The ******' bands sound like. I assume they are crap, but that's probably foolish of me since I haven't heard them...

Meh.
