Is the bear the champion of Larger Mammals?

What about a bear versus Ditka?

I have gone over yr list and picked gorilla, just cause that seems like it would a decent fight

i'm goin' with octopus. if the fight happens in some water, the bear *might* be at a disadvantage.

which bear though? big difference between a kodiak or a polar, and a panda or koala or something. are pandas and koalas really bears? if you're talking about a big-ass balls-out bear, wow, i don't think anybody could take it. especially not a human. that's my favorite part, is how the human probably can't even take the cougar in a 1-on-1. but in terms of an interesting fight, i'm gonna go with the generic "great cat" category. lion or tiger or something. oh my!

Literally, I'm talking about a big-ass balls-out bear like a Kodiak.

Although, figuratively, I think a Kodiak's ass size and orientation of genitalia might have little to do with their overall carnage prowess.

Unless, of course, their balls are on their neck.

i would have a hard time betting on that

i would go for the bear, b/c as much as i like sharks, i truly love bears. but i would be not at all confident.

Taken on a case by case basis:

Gorilla – Honestly, I don’t think the gorilla would stand a chance, unless in a boxing, wrestling or other bruiser-type match. The bear has big ass claws, teeth and the coveted big ass bear hug. What does the gorilla have but muscle and fierce looks? Gorilla Monsoon, now that’s another story.

Cougar – Interesting. Kind of like a cat and dog find in the wild. I’ve seen some cats that could kick some canine ass. If the cougar can use his quickness and agility and stay behind the bear, he’s got a shot. If the bear gets him in his death grip bear hug, it’s all over.

Elephant – If he doesn’t run screaming, the pachyderm has it in spades. One stomp and that bear’s toast. It can also impale with its tusk or apply a punishing choke hold with its trunk.

Killer whale – Okay, we’ll assume you’re talking about polar bears now. If the bear is from the Maori tribes of New Zealand and it’s name is Paikea, I’ll take the bear.

Octopus – Is this a mammal??? Patented choke hold a la Elephant trunk. Also known to cheat by squirting ink in its opponents' eye. I’ll take the octopus.

By my count, your precious bear is 2-3, struggling to make it to .500 with an outside shot of making it to the playoffs.

Elephant would smoosh the bear like a wad of gum. Yeah the bear might get a bite or two, but a raging, full grown, African bull elephant? It'd be like an office building running at you.

Yeh, I'd have to go with the Great White. Few creatures can compete with that.

What about a bear vs. a:

Crocodile
King Cobra or other venomous snake
Anaconda or other large non-venomous snake
Komodo dragon
Bald eagle or similar bird of prey
