tapeopcon 2006: anyone going? Electrical folks?

Arizona in 2 months will be hot...no thanks. I think Tuscon is logistically a bad idea, though if it were in Portland, as in the past, I would no doubt definately make it. To be honest I thought Chicago would have been a likely candidate due to the extreme circumstance of New Orleans not being able to host the convention. As a side note, I once religiously read and re-read Tape Op, as of late I let my subscription expire and really am not as thrilled with the majority of the content these days. It is free and has opened so many doors, I will dis no further!

I had a great time last year and, afterwards, I vowed to attend every future TapeOpCon... however, Tucson seems like a bad idea for a number of reasons.

Yet, I am reserving my final decision until the full listing of panelists/bands is announced. If Shellac plays again, it will certainly encourage me to make the journey.

So my answer is: We'll see...

Tucson made the most sense, given the circumstances. Yeah, I'm sure it'll be hot, but it's not like New Orleans was a nice, cool town. Especially last year.

I'm on two panels this year, so yeah, I'm going. It sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. They've got some really good panels and workshops this year and just like the last few years, it looks like they're learning from some mistakes and getting better and better. Lots of chances for the DIY EQ workshop this year and the hotel seems like it's pretty sweet. The Pot Luck studio will be active again, although I don't reallly know anything about the specific plan. I'm sure it'll be cool. It was a great concept last year and pretty amazing that they pulled it off at all. I would go again for no other reason than the possibility of another Mitch Easter mixing workshop. That was classic.

It will be fun. Tucson was picked because Craig lives there. Just like Scaramento and Portland were picked because of John and Larry. I'm on two panels again, one of which I'm moderating, so I'm nervous about that. Can anyone guess which panels?

Have any of you "it's too hot there" people been to New Orleans in June? I'll take desert heat over bone crushing humidity anytime. It's a great city but god damn was it hot and humid. They said New Orleans only has 2 seasons, February and Summer.

I also like to golf, and this place has 3 courses, so, I'll be golfing.
it's not the length, it's the gersch
