I was there this past weekend, as well.

I have been once before, in 2002.

Awesome though really more than I could afford. What is worse, I had to get back immediately and was offered 300 pounds sterling for the seats my girlfriend and I were booked into. With the current exchange rate that is about $1100. They would have put us up in a hotel. I had to turn it down. Ouch.

Great people at the fest. It is essentially summer camp for rock fans. The pretension and tacky hipster bullshit was thankfully absent.

Uzeda rocked. Shellac rocked. Whisper in the Noise was fantastic. Fred Anderson was fantastic. On and on and on.

there must be holiday camps in the states, right?

ATP is the king of festivals (glastonbury shmastonbury), and the best bit about being a music fan in the UK. i've been four times out of five, and it is always exceptional...

as a direct result of seeing them on friday, i went to see envy last night in glasgow. they were incredible! the party continues...

ps. at a show on sunday one band mamber berated the audience as "trendy fucks" for liking lightning bolt. "you won't be walking down the street whistling their songs in 10 years, will you?". it was funny. LB obviously rock (even harder than cat power...mind you she looked like she was the girl from 'the ring' when she played atp...)

pps. 'cunthole'...great word!

They were a band called Hex, mid paced indie stuff with a drum machine, they got heckled pretty badly. Envy were outstanding though.
