Act: Nels Cline Joining Wilco

A couple of weeks ago Nels Cline joined Wilco, and today when i checked his webpage he posted a message that seemed like it was trying to defend accusations of selling out. However, as a fan, anything that gives him money is good, because that hopefully means he will be able to tour at some point again. On the bad side, his album wont be released until August now.

i like nels cline, but he's one of the most 'hit and miss' artists out there. there's really no time period where he was all that much better than any other. just constantly sporadic in in terms of quality in my opinion. i guess his really early stuff is all pretty boring though. i like the trio all right, not a big wilco fan.

i was actually pretty bummed about this at first, because i think nels cline is amazing and basically embodies everything i love about music, art, and human beings in general. some of the best shows i've seen have been nels cline shows, probably. i hate wilco. jeff tweedy in particular is a real douche. still, i guess if nels continues to tour and do his own shows or whatever it doesn't really matter.

I saw the first of the two warmup shows in DeKalb last week (or was it the week before) and Cline was fabulous. They're really just an amazing bunch of musicians and they don't play slop. Quitcher Hating. Cline's been a ringer for forever, at least he lives off his chops. I personally like seeing Cline work with "songs" (i.e. he killed with Watt) more than improv and I felt he really added a lot to the whole mix.

NOT CRAP.
