I can't think of anyone in music more vile and reprehensible than Jimmy Buffett. And he's remained this way for years and years! His fans, the corporate enterprise, the lyrics, the production, the attitude, the absolute colorless, white frat boy BLAH of everything enveloping him.

When I meet someone who is a Parrothead, it is 99.44% guaranteed I will hate them. In fact I can't think of any other music fan type that I could stereotype and generalize so easily. Why?

I tried to conjure up some artist who was worse, but even those with music as bad a JB (Manilow, Diamond, Cetera) have something likeable or ironic going on. Or at the very minimum, the music of these artists can be ignored. JB can't. It just inspires rage.

Still, TK is at the very minimum singing crap that addresses his enemies and his political ideologies, thus he's confrontational in some parallel way to say, Charlie Daniels (whose politics are retarded, but at least he feels passionately about them).

Sting has done things in his career that weren't crap (early Police...)

Eric Clapton too (and he's a good guitarist if you like that whiteboy blues wankery..)

The Doors has Ray Manzarek, who produced and promoted early X (the LA band). Not to mention, a decent keyboard player. And although the Doors were crap, they influenced music that wasn't Crap.

The Eagles, meh. Pretty Bad. yeah, ok. But do they have followers like JB has Parrotheads?

Janis Joplin is dead. She's harmless... (Although she did influence Robert Plant's horrible caterwauling.)

Beastie Boys, yeah, not good. But as bad as Jimmy Buffett? At least they had Kerry King play with them once. I still think they are 50% more bearable than JB.

Jethro Tull, prog rock with a flute? Pretty funny if you ask me. Yeah, more than one song and I want to kill, but still, not quite as bad.
