ClockerBob, I have a question. I live in DC and I am really starting to think about my safety here. History has proven that there will someday be another major offensive on US soil. If this happens, I would think DC would be at the top of the list of cities to take out.

I find nearly all of your posts incredibly insightful and they seem to only back up my fears these days about the world we all live in. Are there any websites/literature you could point me to in regards to predicting when these attacks will begin and where?

I have a friend who has a small farm outside of DC (in Virginia) and I have already begun stockpiling some non-perishable food along with gallons upon gallons of water there. Next will be gasoline. (This is going to be very expensive and I unfortunately probably should've done it years ago considering the price these days). If this all went down at any point my goal would be to head towards the upper northwest of Canada. I have some family there which would help a lot as far as how the situation is and being perhaps forever displaced.

Many thanks in advance and please keep up the good work you do here on this site. I believe you've helped some of us pull our heads futher out of the sand.

Clocker Bob, I have had a real time of it trying to find the "reduced fat" version of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese in my local Lowes food Grocery store...

Is there any sites you might be able to point out to me that would assist in contracting said product?

I'm afeared my love handles will only grow stronger if something can't be done.

Thanks.

Please say you're gonna make a documentary about clocker bob! ;)

Hopefully you already bought and learned to ride a dirtbike. Like an off-road type motorcycle. When I lived in DC (from Sep 2001 to Sep 2004) I got pretty paranoid after the anthrax and the sniper and getting mugged outside my apartment. And I came to the conclusion hat the #1 best vehicle to have in DC (or anywhere you feel like your town might get attacked to shit at any moment) is a dirtbike-type motorcycle. For short range escape, the mountain bike is #1. For long-range (like getting all the way to Canada) the dirtbike is #1. Excellent fuel economy, able to get off the road and fit through small spaces, etc. If you were there on Sep 11th, you may have run into insane traffic, where it was at a standstill and it took 3 hours to make a trip that would otherwise take 30 minutes. If it's a dirty bomb in DC, you're going to want to get off the road entirely, so you can actually move. This was part of my thinking in buying a 4Runner... it has part-time 4wd and excellent ground clearance, and would do well going off the road if need be.

With regard to the stockpiling of gasoline... something I heard recently from a friend, was that a guy he knows stockpiled a ton of gasoline before Y2K. And then when nothing happened, he had a shitload of gas.

And apparently gasoline expires, somehow. I'm not clear on how, or how long it lasts, or why it goes bad, or whatnot.

Anyway, what I'd recommend is that you stockpile it in a whole bunch of smaller containers. Call them 10 gallon maybe. And then constantly recycle them. Take the oldest gas, and put it in your car, or your buddy's car, and then refill that one container. Or two. Or whatnot.

Cause otherwise you're gonna end up with a shitload of useless non-gas. Or so I've heard.

BTW, no offense meant, but you seem like you're making this all up as a ruse to draw clocker bob out or something. Sounds fun!

I liked Instrument a lot.

During WWII my great grandpa, who lived in holland, disassembled his whole truck and hid all the parts in his barn throughout the hay. When the war was over, he put them back together, found some oil, dug up his buried tires (first things to get stolen usually) and Bam! One of the first people to have a functioning car again.

I have been wanting to buy another dirtbike and I think it is going to happen soon. My last one got totalled (and so did my friend on back). But I am nearing purchasing another one. Maybe paint it all black. And taunt the neighbors.

This has nothing to do with our impending doom. I just love dirt bikes.

I'm not an actuary, but I wouldn't be surprised if the odds of being killed in an accident while stockpiling gasoline are greater than the odds of being killed in a D.C. terrorist attack.
