Especially practice amps.... are there any out there? I was playing some old red knob fender that sounded kind of cool when driven to hell on the clean channel... I'm kind of looking for a practice amp that's solid state that might be similar. I'm sure I will get some traynor recommendations

I used to love the sound of my Fender "Princeton Chorus" on the clean channel with a Tube Screamer (TS-9 reissue; "drive" at zero, "tone" and "level" dimed) in front. I left chorus and reverb disabled, but if that's your thing it's available. I still have the amp, but it's generally not loud enough for practicing with a drummer in a large room, so I don't use it much.

Why solid state?
The new Epiphone Valve Jr. is getting rave reviews. People on Ebay are modding them for extra gain, tone knobs, etc.

$100 gets you the head. $150 for the combo. Probably less used, if you can find them, because people adore them. Apparently they get pretty loud too.
Class A, with a single EL84 tube for that oh-so-British tone.

If I didn't already have an Orange Tiny Terror, I'd get one in a minute.

the Vox Pathfinder 15 that was made by the Thomas Organ Co. Kooky and kool. Not to loud, but interesting when pushed hard.

And staying with the alliteration...

Kustom Lead III head. The Lead III gets loud, has an accutronics tank, a way strange and too defined trem circuit, and some sort of fake-O "drive" function that's good and dirty in a practice amp way.

I think that's similar to what I was playing, except I think I had the deluxe w/ no chorus? I can't remember, it was a friends.

I'm looking for something a little different. I've had tons of tube amps, but once in a while a little niche sound is nice. I've heard some solid state amps that sounded kind of cool when cranked (Usually from the 80s I think) A guy locally plays one and always gets a cool sound out of it (arguably it's not for everything though)

You will. I just bought Mayfair's TS-25 a few weeks back.

it's awesome good sounding, and I've been playing through a fender twin for the past six years. Nice clean sound, but the gain boost makes some really chubby distortion. Great reverb sound, though no footwsitch for it and there's no mid-range knob, just treble and bass. great for the home, though.

she is a good amp.

Old Vox Solid state - some have built in Fuzz distortion too, like the old Royal Guardsman

Old Fender Solid State - From a period in the late 60's where for one or two years they went solid state. They sound great but not exactly like a twin or a bassman - Some have Fuzz chanal - There were some that have more than one chanal

TS-25

I've said lots of stuff about the TS-25 on this forum, just do a search.

Great amp. Replace the stock speaker and you'll be good to go. The amp records especially well. Neato overdrive. Good reverb. Better than most $350-$500 combo amps. Can be had for under $100 easily.
