Do you own a Traynor Amp? What do you use it for? Why did you want one? Why do you not want one?

Yep - an old one, the tiny little transistor one with the controls on top. Its 10 watts maybe. I can't remember the model...I remember seeing one in Electrical Audio pics so I'm guessing it's the TS-10.
The bad news is it has never worked and is still in repair.

I had a Guitar Mate Reverb for a couple of years. It was okay, but the overdriven sound was a bit too harsh for my ears. I paid $99 for it, sold it for $300.

yes, i own a ts-50b. i've also owned a ts-120b.

bass guitar. it's run through a power amp and into a 4x12 and a 2x15.

Why did you want one?

i heard it got a good distortion sound and i was tired of dealing with various crappy amps and various crappy pedals. i didn't want an amp i had to have a pedal in front of all the time to sound good.

Why do you not want one?

i've owned three. i like the sound of this one best. the 120 was nice and didn't require the power amp but i like it really loud. i owned another ts-50b and it had a slightly fuzzier overdriven sound.

right now, i'm looking at one head that sounds good by itself and doesn't require the power amp. plus it has to have a good overdriven sound. so i'm looking at tube amps. traynor's are still cheaper than most and offer the most power.

YBA-1A Bassmaster
YBA-3 Custom Special
YGM-3 Guitar Mate with Jensen P12
TS-25 with Greenback Celestion 25 watter

I got them because they were all super cheap in comparison to amps I once owned years ago (that were no longer affordable in all honesty- i.e. Hiwatt DR series, Marshall JMPs, Fender Blackface Bassmans, Super Reverbs, Ampeg SVT's)

I think they've all turned out to be impressive contenders. This boards seems to be the only place that I found them to be considered "hip" or whatever.

The YBA-3 is a great tube bass amp. As good as an Ampeg V4. For the price is rules.

The YBA-1A is as good as a Marshall JMP. Maybe as good as a Hiwatt.

I'm not too much of a wiring geek, but the guy who worked on my YBA's seems to think Traynors are built super well and wired nearly as well as Hiwatts were. That's pretty impressive.

The TS-25 has a very unique cool sound going on for a solid state amp. Love the overdrive sound with single coil guitars!

The Guitar Mate is OK for Guitar, maybe a bit tubby, but good for low volume bass guitar. It is probably the one amp I will sell soon.

nah. i like what i've heard, but haven't exactly been blown away. marshalls, fenders, and ampegs cost more for a reason, imo. (although i payed $150 for a V-4b, $300 for a Bassman, and $350 for a Marshall reissue)

YBA-1. It is great in many ways, including the overdrive you can get easily. Low low lows are a problem in my opinion. I picked it up out of curiosity about how it would sound having read so much. I play a fender and a mosrite bass through it. I think its a really cool addition to any bass player's gear stash.

I have a Bass Master Mark II and a Solid State PA head - I had a combo amp for a while that was on loan from a friend in LA who finally took it back with him.

I played a mono block on tour in canada years ago and have to say it is tops.

I looked at one of the old Solid State 30 watt amps (earler this year) and it sounded nice but it was a bit too expensive and needed work. I needed a 30 watt arround amp so I also looked at their new solid state 30 watt amps which are on sale for arround $100 now and it seemed nice but was offered a 40 watt roland keyboard cube for less than that that was mint and went with that it kind of met my needs more.

What do people think of their new solid state amps.

I'd love to check out the XS400 head. Has a cool idea you don't see on most hybrid amps: you can drive the preamp to get tube crunch and you can turn it on or off with a footswitch (if I remember correctly).
