UKELELE

I was at a friends house this week, and she had a ukelele. I liked it. I want to get one. Does anyone have a suggestion RE: shopping for a ukelele? I don't want to spend a bunch of money, but I don't wanna get a piece of crap either.

Much like vockins, I have a Mahalo I got for $25, and for another $27 put a pickup on it. It sounds and plays great, though it is of course not nearly as nice as more expensive ukes I've played. My point is that you don't need to lay out a lot of cash for a fun playing experience.

Tips: I like geared tuners for the uke; you can get cheapies with geared tuners and expensive ukes with friction tuners, but the cheap friction tuners will be a shortcut to massive frustration. Go geared. Also, check the action. Then learn a few chords, and start serenading your S.O.
