Who are the most overrated guitarists in history?

Pick the guitarist who you believe has either exerted the most negative influence on other guitarists, or someone with all technique and no soul, or someone with all soul and no technique.

Clapton.

Oh man, Alex Lifeson, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards. Overrated and overplayed.

Oh and Tom Morello.

Paul Kossoff.

I listened to Free plenty when I was a teenager, and I can probably play a bunch of their songs still, but I have genuinely no idea why he's supposed to have been great.

What's great about his playing?

i think people trying to recreate what they thought hendrix should have sounded like is one of the most negative influences. that and the song "red house" from RUX?

Fripp's cheesiness and dorkiness on In The Court Of The Crimson King is also responsible for a multitude of other people's sins. But I guess it's OK because Baby's On Fire could redeem anything.

hendrix made me want to play guitar when I was like 12 and got me into making guitar noises, which I think is a good influence. but then there are those guys who take the blues rock side of it and forget all the good stuff, so yeah it can go either way w/ hendrix.
