That was a perfect fucking film. A lot of people are going to have problems with the last third, but I thought it was genius.
Early on, a pickup chases a man across West Texas brush just as the sun is coming up. For just a split-second in the sky, you can see heat lightning in the distance.
Incredible.
I think a lot of the problems that people have with the Coens (Spoot's argument, most of which I agree with despite the fact that I still love most of the films in question) simply do not apply to this film. I guess what I'm saying is that No Country never smirks.
NOT CRAP. Better than Marathon Man.

2So glad it's getting such good reviews, everything's shaping up for it to be the film of the year.
NOT looking forward to the Farrelly's verion of The Road (credited to Tarmac MacCarthy)

3Looking forward to it. I think the Coens are better at doing heart of darkness-type movies, anyway. Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, Barton Fink. I like some of their broad, screwball movies too, but noir is their bread and butter. The Big Lebowski is of course the exception.

5Not playing in Columbus, which sucks. Contemplating roadtripping.
