how do you interview someone famous?

by all means, please make fun of the idea, b/c every tom dick and harry seems to be doing this, but i was thinking of starting a podcast (or something of the like) and do interviews with artistic people who don't normally get interviewed. for example, someone like walter murphy- he's done alot of work with family guy, but that's only about 2% of his resume and i want to ask him about all that other stuff.

but at any rate, how do you set that up? i might be getting a sponsorship to do this, so i wanna do it right. if you look up people's names on the imdb.com, it will say "contact" on some pages, but then you have to be a member for like $13/month.

is there any other way? i would have to call that person's agent, right? in my example about murphy, since family guy is a fox show, can i somehow call fox and say "i'm looking to set up a one-hour interview with so-and-so?" if i wanted a cinematographer who has done work put out by new line cinema, do i just call the new line front desk and start asking questions?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

we have a blog with some mates and we did some mail interviews with underground-semi-famous people (xiu xiu's singer, momus, comic/music critic douglas wolk, etc)
it was mostly just writing an e-mail.
more famous people could be tricky, maybe via other contacts between him and you? think about this, you probably know somebody who is neared to him than you.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

Actually, MySpace is very useful in contacting someone (Provided it's not a fan page). Your example of Walter Murphy:

http://www.myspace.com/waltermurphymusic

When trying to find someone on MySpace I use:

http://www.icerocket.com/?tab=myspace

It's much better than the MySpace search. Also, in terms of someone like a cinematographer, there are directories that are published that can usually be found at any Borders (I know in Chicago and LA) that have all the agent and\or manager contact info. This is the same info you would get on imdb. The books are expensive, though, at $70 or $80 a pop and they're shrink wrapped in the store. But, if you only need one name, well...

If they're a recording artist, try contacting the label. As for Fox, a corporation like that will have a big PR dept you can talk to. The easiest way might be to find someone you're interested in that has a new product--album, movie, book, whatever. In that case they'll likely be doing a lot of interviews and have a PR company setting them up. Try contacting their publisher/label/studio whatever.
