never says how much weed he had, does it? i'd say if it's like a half ounce or less, the guy's getting shafted. but if it's an ounce or more, or if he's growing it, or if he had a bunch of baggies and a scale, then he fucked himself really bad. actually, no matter what, he fucked himself really bad. keeping that much money as cash is a terrible idea, and to do it in combination with something like possessing illegal drugs, that's just a recipe for disaster.

all he had to do was not keep $400k in cash and none of this would have happened. he coulda put it in a bank account, money market, bonds. treasury notes would have been awfully smart.

This is both true and not.

On the one hand, he set himself up in such a fashion whereas they'd be able to do something like that.

If the guy had dealer-quantity of dope (it would take a lot more than an ounce to convince me he was a dealer), then of course they confiscate his money.

If he did not, then it's total bullshit.
