Snark-O-Dome: Your Flesh Vs. Vice

1
Your Flesh, I suppose, is pretty much long gone as a print publication. That, to me, is a shame. They had some hilariously scathing reviews, and the whole 'fuck you, trendy-indie-fuck' outlook of the magazine worked for me at the time, and would work for me now. When they actually recommended something it was right on, and they've turned me on to some of my favorite writers, musicians, filmmakers, etc. etc.

It was through them that I got turned on to George Pelecanos.

Vice can be very funny, but I find its mean-spiritedness considerably emptier. Graphically, sure, it's fine but I also find it a bit ad- heavy and content light.

Anybody else have a thought on this?
You call me a hater like that's a bad thing

Your Flesh is my second ever favorite magazine next to Sick Teen out of Green Bay. Sadly both are out of print to my knowledge although I know Your Flesh still lives on via internet magic. I don’t recall Your Flesh being overtly snarky and certainly not in the contrived hipster, frat boy outlook of Vice Magazine. I do know I got turned onto tons of great bands as well as other culture by being a regular reader of Your Flesh and their tour diaries were fucking hilarious. No contest. Your Flesh was the shit and fuck 21st century faux bad-ass, trying-hard-to-be-outrageous, reactionary-just-to-generate-controversy NYC hipsters.
