Thing to be: rhythm guitarist.

I was idly flicking through local 'musicians wanted' ads whilst (as ever) dreaming of the day I happen upon an advert saying

"Wanted, mid-thirties guitarist/bassist/drummer/master of none with little ambition, to form ridiculous noisy kraut-rock band with similar. Family/work commitments a must."

and began contemplating the lot of the 'rhythm guitarist'.

Is CRAP to be a rhythm guitarist?

I like Indie, punk, metal and reggae. I'm looking to play rhythm guitar as my solo playing is not great but a little practice can play most things.
I walk these streets, a loaded six-string on my back.

How far are you from Brum?

Too far, sadly.

Family/work commitments a must.

If God showed up tomorrow and said Do you want to be President? No. Do you want to be in politics? No. Do you want to be a lawyer? No. What do you want? I want to be a rythm guitar player. - lou reed

not crap. my favorite guitar players are mostly rythm guitar players. and i personally really enjoy it - more than lead actually. it's kind of annoying that in the band we are two rythm players at heart - but he can play lead better than me.
just yesterday i discovered that i generally - in my lead parts - use some sort of hybrid rythm/lead aproach - playing small two or three string chords above the 12th fret. i'm doing this in like 4 songs. i dont know, it works for me.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

The bad news is that this point is almost certainly somewhere between Daventry and Market Harborough.

Actually, that central point is probably Naseby.

Which leads me to the suggestion that all PRFers need to organise a monthly or even quarterly 20 person sonic reenactment of the battle of Naseby on the site of the famous civil war skirmish.
