I think the proper response by Obama would be to go on TV and indignantly say, "oh, so you're at least acknowledging that i go to a Christian church now, eh? That's an improvement."

"I can't control what my pastor says" would be an appropriate response to this.
Simple as that.
Why should he be held accountable for what someone else says? We all have friends who say ridiculous shit.
I liked his response to Ferraro's comment the other day.......something along the lines of "i don't see how being a black man named Barack Obama is giving me any special benefit while running for Pres of the USA".
I really hope he doesn't take this bait.
I think his appeal is in the polite way he gives the bird to his haters.

He's even quoted in the article as saying something like "My pastor's like that uncle everyone has in their family that says crazy shit once in a while." Most normal people, if they really think about it, don't listen to everything their pastor says (or is every church-goer refraining from premarital sex?), but of course the mock-outrage machine is gonna love this shit.

Who cares? First of all, Pennsylvania's primary isn't until April 22nd. Second of all, the nomination process is now out of the hands of American voters...Obama has a pledged delegate lead that cannot possibly be overcome or approached without shady backroom dealings. No scare tactics make much sense at this point.
And as far as the general election goes, McCain doesn't participate in this Bushie sort of game anyway...he would have to be complicit in some sort of Swift Boat attack. Homie don't play that...especially not when it comes to religion.
Also, fuck anti-Semitic paranoia...it's always so healthy when that tension is allowed to bubble under the surface...

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."
I'm with Wright on this one.
