Idea: Reggae is Disco for hippies

Heh. Since I stopped with the ganj I've stopped with the reggae. I don't not like it, it's just that I'm no longer mellow enough to enjoy it.

Not Crap I suppose but it is the opiate of the dreadlocked (and those who wish they could properly grow them).

Ha ha, yeah, I'd agree with that. But in my town there's very little distinction between hippies and ravers. They've become one with each other. It's a pretty fucking goddamn scary new breed! Though I could probably listen to more reggae than disco in most circumstances, it's the cultural association that really bums me out.

I did an amazing thing earlier this year. In one drunken tirade I elminated every person I was friends with in either of these, uh, cliques. At first I was a little concerned that I really did something wrong, but now it's totally different. Now, the people I never really enjoyed hanging out with never call me, and I have zero recollection of how that came to be. Total blessing if you ask me!

If you say, "I'm a reggae fan" and you're not a rastafarian, the chances of you being an asshole skyrocket. I'm not saying it's impossible, but you have to take a good, hard look at yourself and ask, "Have I ever used the construction 'I and I' in all seriousness?"

Bullshit. I'm not a huge fan, but I quite like the reggae that I've heard, especially dub - and dub has influenced a good portion of my favorite music, like early PiL and the Pop Group.

However, most reggae-influenced bands are truly horrible (e.g. those overrated smackheads Sublime), and any white band that goes the extra step and tries to be rasta is just gonna suck, almost invariably.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
