I have one. I don't mind it. It's the same as my dad's (as is my first name) and his dad's.

My dad was spectacular and I'm glad to have his name. His dad, on balance, was okay.

What I don't like is when people call me by my first initial and middle name. Only my family has done this in the past, say, 17 years, but it drives me up the wall.

I don't think having or not having a middle name is inherently crap. I voted NOT CRAP.

I enjoy having a middle name, as it's a pun.

"Amanda Lynn"

EDIT: Also, my mom's name is Linda, so my parents figured it was a nice way to include lineage in my name. Mostly, however, they just liked the musical pun.

I'm surprised that my middle name wasn't Irene or Irena, since both my grandma's had that name and it's one of those instances where neither family could be offended by having a "family" name chosen over the other half of the family. I'm think that my mom said they considered it but didn't like the sound of Amanda Irene. I agree. Too much going on with that combination and all the vowels.
