The only thing crap about Jackie-O Motherfucker is that they put JOMF instead of Jackie-O Motherfucker on the cover of their latest album. It's like getting a tattoo on your forehead and then wearing a ball cap that you refuse to take off.

And one of the guys is a friend. One day I walked into a magazine shop, and there was my friend on the cover of The Wire magazine. "Holy Shit," I said.

Not crap.

This is just based on one opening show, but at the Sonic Youth/Wolf Eyes/JOMF show last summer here at the Showbox, the band proceeded to elongate time moreso than any other band I've seen live. Their 20 minute set seemed like it was 90 minutes. This is sadly not a compliment. It was like "OK, this is the bad part about Jandek existing. I have to put up with artistes influenced by the likes who stroll around the stage being 'deep'"

Unless a really good album recommendation changes my mind otherwise, for now, C :WF: 0
"Pro Tools is too California Hollywood bullshit.”

JOMF have many very good records. I think my favorite is still "Liberation."

They played in San Francisco, Italia last night, on a prohibitively expensive bill w/Dirty Three. Is okay, I have seen them before.

Salut, Jackie-O.

what were they charging? i think the show in chicago was like $16 through ticketmaster. it's more than i'd normally want to pay, and i'm dissapointed they chose that service but i'd be willing to pay a little extra to see a band that came from two hemispheres away (granted i knew they were good).
