This is not easy - while I certainly like a good portion of the 70s material, the 80s and beyond were absolutely unforgiveable.

They are sick cheesy fucks. BUT! They somehow manage to capture a whole new generation of fans every decade or less. They are the closest thing to rock royalty America has ever produced. I take my hat off to them even though I won't listen to them.

i remember seeing a documentary some time back about the making of Pump. i was fascinated. it was like watching a lost art; a high profile veteran band going into a high priced studio and writing/arranging the songs on the clock, working out the parts, the egos. the studio point man (bob rock i think it was) chiming in, keeeping an eye on things, looking for the 'hits'. everybody with a hand on the fader during mixdown. nothing ironic about it. an example of the record label/studio system in full effect - like it or not. and i think that's a pretty good record for what it's worth. i hear they have some chick write their balads now, i don't know.

the early 70's stuff is killer, but after that it all goes to shit.
overall: CRAP with a of 5.

because of "rocks" and "draw the line"- not crap.

aerosmith are everything i hate about music CRAP, TOTAL AND UTTER CRAP

i honestly can't think of many bands i despise as much as these primates. just about everything steven tyler does makes me want to kick his teeth down his throat. worst band ever.

Any band capable of producing six excellent records in a row gets a NOT CRAP from me. And I'm talking about their first six albums.
