Would have really liked the opportunity to choose a couple from this list. Went for On the Beach in the end. It's the 70s Young I return to most often.

not a bad one in the bunch, but After the Gold Rush has been a best friend to me for 30+ years, so I gotta go with that. I had Live Rust and Rust Never Sleeps in rotation recently and of course that live band was perfect and in peak form then. I was more into those Ditch Trilogy records in like the early aughts and there's a charming "warts and all" approach, but I don't really think they have, you know, more "gritty and real" genuineness than other, more produced 70s stuff.

Agreed, voted Time Fades Away , because I don't want it to feel left out.

I always viewed Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust as one album.
But listed them separately since I guess most people view them as two separate albums.

Yep. And as much as I love the Thrasher/Ride My Llama/Pocahontas sequence on RNS, Live Rust is the one for me.

One side of acoustic goodness, one side of the lighter rock tunes, and then an entire LP of sludgemelt.

Also the first NY record I ever owned, so extra points for sentiment.

Brutal, but I've repeatedly come to the conclusion that On the Beach is my favorite overall, so that one. If this were RCV, I would rank After the Gold Rush, Tonight's the Night, Zuma, and Live Rust, not necessarily in that order.

"Favourite post-70's album" would still be tough but I'd at least have a chance. Voted for Tonight's The Night, but would have picked On The Beach or Time Fades Away on a different day.
