1The Townsend estate is suing. I didn’t see a thread on this, so I thought I would create one. And here is a Washington Post op-ed on the matter, titled “The Ed Sheeran lawsuit is a threat to Western civilization. Really.”

2I'm not saying that there is never a reason why a musical artist should be able to sue another for copyright infringement (ahem, Vanilla Ice), but the fact that they are citing use of a similar chord progression as the reason is ridiculous.
