Rem's Chance - A New Novel

1
Hello, all.

My second novel, Rem’s Chance, is out today on high-quality paperback and eBook. I’m excited to share it with others because the story's quite readable after taking two and a half years to nail down. This book merges literary fiction with gritty crime and mystery elements and also touches on romance, cultural criticism, the allure of new beginnings, and what it’s like to play in a band. It's a blended-genre affair, an amusing page turner not exactly like anything else.

Rem's Chance is available now on Amazon on paperback and Kindle eBook. It's also available as an ePub from Apple Books.

Until at least the end of June, all outbound copies will be signed by yours truly.

You can read early reviews of the book here and here.

This book has required an INSANE amount work and attention to detail from me, and I would not have weathered the storm if the story didn't justify it. I've been overworked to the point that I'd like to take something of a sabbatical from "computer life," but if you leave any questions or comments here, I'll read them in due time and field everything to the best of my abilities. And of course, all paid orders will be fulfilled right away, with utmost professionalism.

Cheers,

Dave

I finally just started The Friends of Allan Renner here and am enjoying it.
Can you send a copy of Rem's Chance to my mom's place in Washington for pick up in August?
You can bill me through Paypal or email me payment deets.

xo,

Jimmy
Invoice sent. Will throw in a shrink-wrapped digipak of the Tired of Triangles album that came out last September, plus a couple of postcards. No new soul mixtapes, sorry; been too busy to make another installment. In the meantime, though, enjoy the first book. Glad to hear you're giving it a go, finally. That one is 119k words whereas this new one is a bit over 77k; as people who've read the first finish the second, I'm kind of curious to hear which they prefer, even if it isn't necessary to pit them against each other or weigh in on this.

Cheers!

Will have ya know that I snuck a "Whooo-cheee-beee" into the new one. Explaining the context might diminish the amusement value, but it's there.

Hey, thanks, and from a typewriter enthusiast/fellow musician no less!

I like to remind people--here or elsewhere--that while I started playing music thirty years ago, I'm basically an "amateur" musician at heart and the "narrative arts" are more my calling (first film, and now lit shiz). Hope you enjoy the rest of the book, FM twelvepoint. Cheers!

Would have been faster, but reading time these days is like 20 minute span after my kid goes to bed and when I can no longer keep my eyes open. I could definitely relate to the older band guy vibe and I thought it was cool you were able to get inside that without being too insider.
Hey twelvepoint, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!! The "older band guy vibe" and aging Gen Xer aspects of the book weren't always the first things on my mind while sitting down to write it, but they kept cropping up again and again and ended up being a huge driving force. It's been interesting to read what others make of all this, especially those who have played or still play in bands. Thanks for reading, man. Cheers!

Yo! The book site IndieReader did an interview with me about Rem's Chance earlier this week. You can read it here if you're interested.

Also, something more tangentially related, but . . .

I've just put out a Blu-ray of film work I've done as a writer-director:

Only 100 copies, and I'm keeping a couple dozen of them, but it's got all the hits.

Like this Fugazi live thing shot in 16mm:

In 1080p, on a decent screen, you can see the film grain better ^^^.

There are seven movies in total, making for a tight ninety minutes.

Some of them have played around the country and abroad, at festivals and cinema clubs and stuff, in what seems like another lifetime ago.

$25 + $5 shipping. Get at me if you're interested.

Alright, cheers!
