Band: Foghat

Foghat was my first Chicago concert. They opened with The Climax Blues Band for ELP at da Soldier Field in 1977.
I have fond memories of that show, but none of them have anything to do with Foghat (or the Climax Blues Band, even though I got to see a Veleno).

Still, Not Crap :WF: 4 for Lonesome Dave and Rod Price being dead and the band still existing.

I'm a fool for the city.

total sludge. total, brutal, boneheaded sludge.

you can barely even c/nc foghat, they are so goddamn sludgy

but like almost all sludge manufacturers, when taking the entire foghat ouevre into account, foghat is crap

i do like 'slow ride,' a lot, the live version in particular

they are very similar in scale to nazareth

I have this theory that any band, no matter how reprehensible, is capable of that One Great Song. I'm not saying every band has one--of course, The Eagles, Billy Joel, and, it so happens, Styx are totally unredeemable. But most of the above bands have one song that I love hearing from time to time:

REO: "Keep Pushin'"
Foreigner: "Long Long Way from Home"
Boston: [I actually enjoy a number of Boston songs]

As far as Foghat goes, their one shining moment is "Drivin' Wheel," though I also dig the riff with which they souped up "I Just Want to Make Love to You."

I agree that Foghat is CRAP, but "Drivin' Wheel"--check it out.

This is a strong theory.
I submit Toto's "hold the line" in advancement of this theory.
Of course, I might be the only person who wasn't in Toto who likes that song.

Toto was the backing band on "Thriller." they wrote "Human Nature." I argue that they have exceeded the "one."
