If you don't like going to [fart] filled bars it would seem to make sense you would stop going to [fart] filled bars.
If people [farting] is something that just really bugs you, why would you get a job in a place consistantly filled with people [farting]?
How about the owner of the bar can decide if he wants to let people [fart] inside his bar? Some bars can be [fart] filled, some can be [fart] free....people who like to [fart] can go to and work at [fart] bars and people who don't like it can go to and work at [fart] free bars....for some reason this isn't good enough for some people, and I don't understand why.
I have substituted some words, but hey I'm paraphrasing...

14They're trying to get this to happen in Milwaukee too. A friend of mine made the most valid point I could think of: if people really wanted non-smoking bars, wouldn't there already be some? Does the demand not dictate the supply?
That said, I have no problem with banning smoking in restaurants. It's a far different thing.

15Smoke damages equipment. In a smoke-free venue, your equipment will last longer and require less frequent cleaning/replacement.

16wow, i'm really suprised by the rhetoric going on in here. it's not a black and white issue? sure if your basing it all on the PREFERENCES of smokers vs non-smokers but that doesn't seem like an issue worth VOTING ON... i'm not saying it's not a fine thing for someone to be able to walk into a bar and not smell like smoke... but seriously guys... let's be a little more alert.
you don't think the money (your money) that go into these laws are being misappropriated? i know in at least a few states, like mine, it isn't actually an issue of health -- once again, walk outside an check the air -- it's a matter of flow. soon begins the lotteries for rich businesses to buy 200,000 dollar smoking licenses... meanwhile a few more teachers don't get a raise cause state government funding has been routed to these bullshit initiatives.

....have nothing to do with the fact that playing shows and seeing shows is a much better experience when the venue is non-smoking.

playing your equipment too loud can also damage it... and my ears. what's yr point? laws should be put in place for the sake of equipment owners?

I said what I said and I'll leave it at that. I'll go to the place where the band I want to see is playing, regardless of smoking policy/law.

19One of the few perks of moving to LA (that, and the weather). It's nice leaving a bar and not smelling like an ashtray. Every time I'd leave the Empty Bottle or Fireside, It was like I just smoked a pack from the second hand smoke. Want to smoke? no problem, step outside.

20I dont see whats wrong with non-smoking sections. Or even non-smoking rooms. I dont know about in America but every English pub has at least a bar and a lounge.
