mathew has left the conversation.

Matthew IMed me the other night and asked me to assure you all that he is indeed a tangible entity and not merely a feigned online character created to fulfill the roll of forum antagonist/punching bag ('cause, ya know, an online conversation is indisputable proof of truth and reality n' stuff).

I just thought that I would share that with everyone.

I appreciate this.

A guy moves into a lighthouse, since it is tall (everyone wants a tall house), and inexpensive (he is cheap), and by the ocean (everyone wants a view of the ocean). After a few months living alone in the lighthouse, he gets lonely and starts making invitations to dinner among his friends so he can have some company. Unfortunately, he lives in a lighthouse, and it is difficult for anyone to visit him, so they don't. A few more months of self-imposed isolation and he goes slightly mad. He does things like set the dinner table and pace back-and-forth all night waiting for guests to "drop in," though they never do. Eventually, driven to anguish, he finds himself on the parapet screaming at the sea, "Come on, I have a lighthouse! Can't you tell how cool it is to have a lighthouse? You think you're so cool, but you're all just full of yourselves! All you guys can go to Hell!"

And still he sets the table, and still no one visits him.

Great. I'm a Shellac tune now.

i am actually envious. if the aforementioned paragraph had been about me i'd have written a book just so i could have it on the dust-jacket.

otherwise i'll just have to manipulate one of bradley's posts until it reads something remotely complimentary.
it may end up reading "tommydski....(is)....not crap."

You can quote me directly:

"I do not know him personally, but I am certain that tommydski of the United Kingdom is a kind and thoughtful young man. His writings exude warmth, humor and intelligence, and reveal a search for purpose in the world that I wish more young adults shared with him.

tommydski = NOT CRAP"

Done here.

Oh ! dream of joy ! is this indeed
The light-house top I see ?
Is this the hill ? is this the kirk ?
Is this mine own countree ?

We drifted o'er the harbour-bar,
And I with sobs did pray--
O let me be awake, my God !
Or let me sleep alway.

The harbour-bay was clear as glass,
So smoothly it was strewn !
And on the bay the moonlight lay,
And the shadow of the Moon.

The rock shone bright, the kirk no less,
That stands above the rock :
The moonlight steeped in silentness
The steady weathercock.

lol, cock.
