If I had known that Jandek was playing in Portland, I woulda taken tomorrow off of work, and taken the Amtrak down there.
I guess it's not too late.
Jandek LIVE!
22I spoke with Alan Licht this past week.... he, along with Loren Mazzacane-Connors opened for a show for Jandek in NY and played as Jandek's band at another show. Also, when Loren and Alan played Houston a month or so ago, Jandek sat in with the band on fretless bass!!! HOLY FUCK! Alan did not go into a ton of detail.... sworn to secrecy perhaps?
Still waiting for our Chicago Jandek show..... almost happened a while back.... hopefully in Sept for the Wire fest? Fingers crossed....

Forum member, personal friend and fancy foods type guy Don was at that show, which took place mere blocks from my home...
So, I hear about Jandek showing up the next day. Shit. Fuck. I missed it. I'll have to ask Don how it was because I know he was there.
Monday - Send Don a message asking for details...

Dude, you didn't miss anything. Most of it was shit. Pretty fuckin' boring. I wanted to kick Jandek in the balls.
Seriously, most of the improvisation was rarely coherent. Licht and Connors just never got it together. There were moments when they did, but they were very, um, momentary. I didn't know the guy in the Nazi fedora was Jandek until a couple of days later when I ran into a couple of guys I recognized from the show. They were ecstatic over the precedings. They asked, "What did you think of Jandek?" So I said, "That was Jandek?" Yes, they said. "Oh, he was boring, too." I just sat there and said, "The guy in the Nazi hat can't play bass for shit."
Like, !!!
Don.
Don is to be trusted.
**Do we need the other Chemical Bros. records??

d'oh, i think i interrupted you guys yakkin' to tell alan it was nice to hear his song "free ride" again that night, for the first time in like three years since he was in the pacific ocean.
yeah, people who play with him aren't supposed to talk much about it, or to him either, really. a friend of mine played with him in austin, and i don't think they even spoke a word to each other.
