Would a Hot Rails for Strat fit in a Marauder?

Any pickup can fit into any guitar. The issue is whether or not the pole pieces will line up with the strings.
With a pickup that has a rail, instead of pole pieces, that's not an issue.

Is your question:
Will I need to cut a new pickguard?
Will I have to do any routing?

The answer very well might be yes.
BUT, the pickup will work in the guitar.

The thing is, what's in there is a hot, great pickup. I wouldn't mess with it.

For some reason I'll never understand, those things are going up in value. Two of my friends play them and have added to the profile, but I think it's just because all of the other Gibsons have peaked. That's yet another reason not to mess with it. If the pickup sucked, I'd say why not, but it's awesome.

In fact, even if it's shot, just get it rewound.

Just curious - why do you want to change it?

awesome, thanks for that info. I agree with what you said about marauders in the first place.
And mulling that over, I'm going to agree and not change it, pretty much as I don't have another guitar that I could play blues on.

I play guitar in a punk band (:( ), and the marauder just wasn't holding up to the crunch I wanted, couldn't get blistering leads that I could get with humbuckers on another guitar.

edit: (solos and leads are that much easier to play anyway, on a guitar that doesn't have a neck with the same diameter as my bicep)

I love the sound, it just doesn't really suit my band. But in light of that, maybe I'll just through some new tuners in a guitar I have lying around that would suit my band, and bring it back up to gig worthy status.

I like the rotary pickup selector as well .. not amazing for fast switching mid song, but you get used to it, and I find ands more dimension to playing choices

For not much more than a pickup (and the headache), you could get a Mexi Telecaster - $250 trashed maybe?
They rule. Seriously.
Squiers aren't bad either.
There's your blues guitar.

If you want punk crunch, heat up the signal with an MXR microamp or my favorite, the Seymour Duncan pickup booster pedal - maybe $50 on ebay.
First in the chain.
It will make your pickups (seem) as hot you need them to be.
I'm not joshin'.
Your tubes will melt.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with Edwards, but they're the arm of ESP Japan that makes Gibson copies for the Japanese market.

I don't see the model on GuitarJapan's website anymore, but they make (or until recently made) a Marauder copy. No shit! A fucking Marauder copy. Swear to Christ. They came stock with a Hot Rails in the bridge position. A copy! Of a Marauder!

Supposedly these guitars are of excellent quality. They also make a white Les Paul Custom copy that I like, because I want a white Les Paul Custom just like John Reis without paying $3500. But a Marauder copy? Really? Okay dude! You can still by the real thing for under $400 these days. Funny thing, is that the Edwards copy is probably better.
Police Teeth: we like Void so much, we decided not to sound like them.
