A few days ago I streamed the new record on the Touch and Go site.

Holy shit. Such shit. So shitty I will hazard the guess that it's intentional. I am impressed that they've creatively redefined the boundaries of shit so many times on a single record. It's profound. Take the single--an unremarkable beat and a retread vocal melody. But the 4-year-old vocal delivery and horse neighs transcend the predictability and make it so godawfully shit that it's memorable.

This is not exactly a criticism. I get a masochistic pleasure from the album. It makes me feel better about my own aborted musical misadventures.

I think CocoRosie has sabotaged their career with this move. I think they'll therefore be remembered as unappreciated geniuses in 20 years, and will then reunite for Coachella 2030.

I don't care if this record is a hoax or a legitimate effort thwarted by self-indulgence. I want this band to keep making awful music because it is somehow so CRAP it is NOT CRAP. The sheer amount of missteps proves some incomprehensible understanding of music.

Sometimes what you hears is what you gets. I wouldn't bother with trying to assign more meaning to what this "music" is all about.

I'm pretty sure it's 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag.
