neil turpin of bilge pump fame is simply phenomenal, as evidenced here. along similar lines is ashley marlowe of ack ack ack* / charlottefield greatness.
honourable mentions: dave campbell (i'm being good); taz stephenson (projections (RIP)); elvis (lords); john coburn (paper cut out); liam sparkes (trencher).

You know, I think Robin is great too.
Completely under rated and oft forgotten.

I need to check out his new band, The Aliens.

Also, another vote for Drozd.
Wow.

Mentions: John McEntire, John Herndon, esp. when he was with Poster Chir'ins, Alexis Fleisig, Peter Prescott, Andrew Scott, Todd Trainer, Jon Heames, Linda Pitmon

Add me on for additional votes for Jim White and Janet Weiss (as far as drummers I've actually seen live). Both are fantastic.

But the best drummer I've ever seen is Casey from the Chico, CA band The Americas. Amazing, amazing drummer. So much finesse and power. He also drums in the Velvet Teen, but I haven't seen them live.
