Edge: "Hey Paul, I mean Bono, you know I suck at creative playing, what the hey can I do?"

Bono: "Uh, I don't know, man. Ask Mullen."

Mullen: "Um, bury your notes in a sea of chorus and delay, no one will be able to tell you can't play."

While I don't dispute that the Edge's playing is overrated, he does not fit in the same paradigm as most of the rest of the overrated guitarists. That is, he's not a power-chording, pentatonic blues scale-type regular rock player. He actually exhibits some own style.

It pains me to say it, but I don't think the Edge (except for his dubious stage name) is the real reason we all hate U2 so much.

If there were no Bono, and Edge, Mullen, and Clayton had been a trio that concentrated on their more off-beat rock side, well... it would be a lot harder to hate U2 with such vitriol.

Have you ever tried "burying your notes in a sea of chorus and delay"? It's a lot harder than it sounds.

I hear "The Edge" sound everwhere nowadays. He's a lot more influencial than people give him credit for.

I HATE Ynwie Malmsteen. What a fat, arrogant, frustrated violin player he is! And he beat up his wife. I'd "unleash the fucking fury" if I ever saw him in the flesh.

I must disagree on Steve Vai. I like his playing. "Passion and Warfare" is my fave Guitar album.

I like Frusciante. His melody and songwriting just get better and better. When I saw them recently, he slayed my face off with his playing.

Any bloke in a fairly well known band in this country. Seriously, what a load of crap.

"Hey guys, we'll use that plodding beat which will tug at peoples heart strings given long enough just before we slap 'em round the face with that Chorus pedal of PURE, HONEST TO GOODNESS, UNTRAMMELLED, RAW EMOTION."
