Hmm, Headsparks was sort of a let down. I bought it very soon after I'd heard of BM connection. I tried to like it but no, it didn't work for me. Headsparks is the only full length Seam record that I don't like.

I'd say the strongest songs are on Problem with me and I love it.

Milk & Melancholy as a song title would better suit Seam than Rodan.

For three decent LPs Seam got NC.

I've only ever owned The Problem With Me. But based on that, I've gotta vote CRAP. It's not a particularly bad album but truth be told, as a whole, it's almost painfully lackluster and increasingly uneventful. I like some of their peers a good deal but Seam don't do much for me at all. Never seen them live or heard any of their other records but I don't care to, in the same sense that I'm not the least bit tempted to get into Branch Manager. I can think of literally hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of bands more worthy of one's (my) attention. Let the fucking nineties die. To me, Seam is Crap. But with waffles for sharing a member with Bottomless Pit (who I like) and because they may have a few true gems that I'm completely unaware of.

I like 'em. Therefore, I vote Not Crap.

i've got it on the kernel LP.
but it seems different to the one on 'the problem with me', the latter being my preference. i lost my copy of 'the problem with me though

At the risk of sounding overly earnest..My point was that, having lived through the 1990s, in the Midwest, witnessing the heyday of underground bands ripping off Touch & Go and Dischord relentlessly, and having been a regular concert-goer during the emergence of emo, mathrock, and "angular" hardcore, I have very little desire to revist that era of music, even when it comes to unpresumptuous bands like Seam who were, very arguably, the real deal. Yes, I like a good amount of rock music from that time, but, for better or worse, Seam don't make the cut for me, and there are much more interesting eras and genres of music to explore as far as I'm concerned.


Next time you call someone a neophile, do your research first.

I seem to be in the minority liking Seam over Bitch Magnet, but whatever. I saw em the first time at Saint Andrews in Detroit to a completely unappreciative crowd. They were hypnotic and bracing, just spectacular. Been a fan ever since. Fav song, "Driving the Dynamite Truck".

My kid latched onto "The Pace is Glacial" after buying it on a lark out of a used bin and was pissed that I already owned it as he thought he had something new and cool to turn me on to. I felt kinda bad/old.

There was also an old article where he mentioned his guitar tuning (I think he detuned the G string or something, I can't remember), does anyone have a link to that?
