Ok it's more of a 9/11 allegory, but we all know that was done by Iraq, duh.

I understand what an allegory is. You're beginning to get on my internet nerves.lemur68 wrote:I have been on three dates in 2 1/2 years, due mostly to me having the self-confidence of a banana slug

I think my post was brought on by your avatar. Apocalypse Now. Great film. Great statement about Vietnam. I remember the first time I saw it. But that was not during the Vietnam war. It would have been strange if it had been. In my mind war films always have a certain distance from the moment. A certain nostalgia (I know this is not a great word to use).
Today it's like we're nostalgic for the moment while we're still in it.
How many times have you stood at the Blockbuster deciding on the evening's entertainment, only to realize about 75% of it is this war??
Flight 93(serious) Cloverfield(glamorized), World Trade Center even War Of The Worlds, that felt like 9/11, Babel, Syriana, Valley Of Elah, Redacted, All the various documentaries, even a lot of the stupid horror stuff, Hostel.
I guess it makes me feel really frustrated and helpless. As a citizen my option is entertainment, whether it's frivolous or informative. I know there are ways to get involved and make a difference, and that people are dying for this every day. But what a cynical time we're in to have gone this far, where we will entertain ourselves with a war as it goes on.
