I went and bought a 21 Sweet Ride and 14 A Custom Mastersound hats yesterday, I'm thinking about picking up the 22 K Dark Ride sometime and moving the Sweet Ride over to the left as my main crash (crashes as rides rule, my new ambition re: drumset is to basically have Todd Trainer's kit with Dale Crover's cymbals).I don't really ride on my ride cymbal so I always look for something that has a nice sounding crash, so I can recommend the Dark Ride. Wasn't crazy about the bell sound, though, if that's important to you. I also played the A Custom 21 20th Anniversary Ride, which was somewhat similar to the Sweet Ride. I spent a long-ass time going back and forth between those three trying to decide which to get. They're all great.

Do you think the thin crash would be too flimsy to use as a hi hat top? I mean, will it end up cracking pretty quick if I'm a heavy hitter?Should be fine, I would guess. The reason cymbals crack is because they flex over and over, sometimes being struck as they rebound, so that the stick breaks the arc of their rebound flex, creating additional stress. Also, if you're hitting the hats as hard as you hit your crashes, you may need to re-think this.It made sense at the time. I've been having a hard time picking stuff up off craigslist because these people don't want to respond. I really didn't want to drop 340 for a new pair so I suppose I'll just see how this goes. Hopefully, they will match sizewise.. ha ha. I did find that the older Zildjians hat top hats that were around 800 grams, so I'm not really off that far.I think you're likely going to be pretty happy with that combination. Hell, I can't think of a better use of a 14" crash. Anything smaller than 18" is a splash cymbal and therefore bullshit, anyways.

Can anyone recommend a large ride (ideally heavy 24") with a bell similar to the one on the sabian 21" raw bell dry ride? I absolutely love its bell, but I would rather have it in a crash-ey position (plus mine cracked and I want to get it lathed down to 20"/19"'s or so). I havent played another cymbal with a bell that sounds as nice as this one. I've been staring at paiste 2002 24" rides for a while, but the price is seriously offputting.
